下次不要打錯電話喇

我諗大家都有試過打錯電話，唔知有無試過以下既奇遇呢?

ABBREVIATIONS

記得以前上geo堂時，老師成日叫我地抄佢寫o係黑板o既notes。佢成日用d 英文縮寫，例如 e.g. , i.e, w/, 等等，果時仲好細個，有時都真係唔知一d縮寫係點解o既。仲有CE 同 UE d listening tests 都要用到架。到而家出黎做野，我諗大家仲更加要用黎做note taking。仲有呀，平時大家msn呀sms呀應該都會用好多，因為大家要打得快嘛。
今日就會講一d常用既abbreviations ，即係英文既縮寫，希望幫到大家寫快d、打快d喇 ! Advertisement = ad
As soon as possible = asap
Before = b4
Building = bldgBy the way = BTWCentre = ctr
Continue = cont’d
Department = dept
Et cetera (常讀作and so forth) 等等 = etc.Friend = fd


Government = govt
Hour = hrInformation = info.
International = int’l
Maximum = max / maxi
People = ppl
Please = plz
Professional = pro
Road = rd
See you = Cya
Somebody = sb
Something = sth
Street = st
Thanks = thx
That is, that means = i.e.
Year = yr

Today is funny!

有冇聽過人用 "Today is funny" 形容「今日好好玩」?

e.g.
A: Hey! What did you do today to celebrate your birthday?
(喂~你今日點慶祝生日呀?)
B: I went to the Ocean Park with my friends and we had dinner in a nice restaurant afterwards.
(我同d朋友去海洋公園玩，之後去咗間好靚既餐廳食晚飯呀~)
A: Wow~sounds nice! Did you enjoy it?
(嘩~好似好正咁喎，開唔開心呀?)
B: Yea~ Of course. Today was so funny!
(梗開心啦!今日...!)

以上係一個錯誤示範，千祈唔好學。正確講法應該係︰"Today was so fun!"
點解大家會經常犯呢個錯呢?主要係因為將 "fun" 同 "funny"既用法混淆咗。今日就解釋下兩者有咩分別啦!

1. fun (adj.)Meaning: enjoyable, interesting (令人愉快的、有趣的、好玩的)
e.g. It was a fun night out - we'll have to do it again sometime.
(這晚出去很好玩 - 我們改天一定要再去一次。)
2. funny (adj.)Meaning 1: amusing - making you laugh (有趣的、滑稽的、使人發笑的)
e.g. Everyone except me seemed to find her mistakes hilariously funny.
(除我以外，大家似乎都覺得她的錯誤極其可笑。)
Meaning 2: strange - unusual and difficult to explain (不尋常的、難以解釋的)
e.g. I had a funny feeling that something was going to happen.
(我莫名其妙地感到有事要發生。)
Meaning 3: dishonest or illegal (非法的、不老實的、耍花招的)
e.g. I checked the accounts and realized that there was some funny business going on.
(我核查賬目時意識到有人做了手腳。)
換言之，如果話 "Today is (was) funny." 意思就係...
1. 今日好滑稽。
2. 今日好奇怪 / 莫名其妙。
3. 今日好不老實的。
...咁成件事就真係會好funny(滑稽)，所以用既時候要留意啦~

感觀動詞的用法

See 呢d感官動詞後面的verb有時就用 bare infinitive，有時就用 V-ing form...究竟幾時用邊個?
原來:
see + obj. + V.      (看到動作的完整過程)
see + obj. + V-ing (看到動作正在進行 (只有片段))
原來係咁解既~!!
